Thailand in 10 days? Yes, it’s definitely possible. If you have 10 days, you can always opt to travel just a part of the country instead of the full experience. But honestly, when in Thailand you want a bit of everything. Something cultural, something culinary, some chillaxing, some mountains, some beach…
So may I present to you: The ultimate 10 days in Thailand itinerary.
Note: If you have limited time, opt for the faster ways of transport, like flying. It’ll cost you a bit more, but it makes sure you can spend your time actually IN Thailand instead of trains and buses.
10 days in Thailand itinerary: A little bit of everything
If I personally would have 10 days to spend in Thailand, I would spend them like this. I like to combine culture with beach and cities with nature. A fun mix of everything Thailand has to offer.
Day 1: Arriving in Bangkok (+ a bit of exploring if you have time)
If you arrive in the morning, go straight to the train station and book yourself a night train to Chiang Mai. Use the rest of the day to wander around Bangkok. Hire a tuk tuk driver to drive you around and visit some highlights like the big Buddha and the Golden Mount. Also read: the perfect 1 day in Bangkok >>
If you want to make the most of your first day in Chiang Mai, take a flight instead of a train to Chiang Mai. It’s a lot more expensive, but also a lot faster.
Day 2, 3 and 4: Explore Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is a beautiful city in the North of Thailand. It has an own airport, so you can fly there if you like. Definitely visit (one of) the markets, do a cooking course and visit Doi Suthep, a pretty temple on top of a mountain. If you have time, you can take a day trip to Chiang Rai, to see the gorgeous white temple.
Please PLEASE skip the tiger temple. They capture tigers, drug them to make them calm, so tourists can take pictures with these animals. Don’t. Do. This. Tigers belong in the wild.
Day 5 and 6: Go to Pai
This is a beautiful village in the hills in the North-West of Thailand, with a really chill “hippie” vibe to it. The surroundings are absolutely gorgeous, so rent a scooter and go explore! Definitely visit the big white Buddha and the Pai Canyon. Other must-dos and must-sees? Check out the top things to do in Pai.
Day 7, 8 and 9: Island fun
Time for some relaxing on one of the islands. There are a lot of islands to choose from, but since it’s only a 10 day Thailand itinerary, I would recommend flying to Krabi and take a boat to Koh Lanta, or fly directly to Phuket. You can do whatever on these islands: party or chillaxing, being active or just cruising around on a scooter, water sports or relax at the beach / pool… it’s up to you!
Day 10: make your way back to Bangkok
If you have time before your flight leaves, you can walk around Khao San Road a bit or maybe book a little tour to the floating markets. Touristy, yes, but nice to visit.
This is your perfect 10 days in Thailand itinerary to get the most out of your Thailand travels. However, it is a tight schedule, so if you have the opportunity, I would spend at least 2 weeks in Thailand. It’s a little less rushed and you have time to add another destination to the mix, for example Khao Sok National Park.
